Tournament Sanctioning

Introduction

PBAD is now accepting applications for tournament sanctioning, officially making them a part of the Philippine National Ranking points system.

Types of Tournaments that Require Sanctions:
  • Level: National
  • Open Category and Juniors Category
Tournament Sanction Application Fee:
  • The tournament sanction fee is Php 5,000 or 5% of the total prize money, whichever is higher.
  • If the tournament will have Open and Age Group, the sanctioning fee will be P10,000.00
Why Sanction Your Tournament?
  • Inclusion in the Philippine National Ranking System:
    • Sanctioned tournaments contribute to player rankings, attracting more skilled participants, increasing competition levels, and making your tournament more appealing to players looking to improve their standings.
  • Access to Resources:
    • PBAD can appoint a BWF Certified Referee for all sanctioned tournaments to oversee the tournament, ensuring qualified umpires and line judges participate.
  • Adherence to Standards:
    • Sanctioning ensures that your tournament follows established rules, regulations, and standards set by PBAD in accordance with BWF. This helps maintain a consistent and fair playing environment for all participants.

Yes, a sanctioned tournament can lose its status if it fails to comply with the PBAD’s rules or if there are ethical or safety concerns. Sanctioned events are expected to uphold the standards set by the authority.

Sanctioned Tournaments which are source of rankings are exclusive to Filipino players only. However, a tournament that involves foreign players may still be sanctioned/recognized by PBAD but will not be source of ranking points.

PBAD may offer various forms of support, such as promotional assistance, access to qualified Tournament Directors, Umpires, Line judges, and other matters the organizers may need.

If a sanctioned tournament needs to be rescheduled, organizers should communicate promptly with PBAD and follow any specific procedures outlined in the sanctioning agreement.
